The recipe for sambar:
Ingredients
Toor daal
Carrot, onion, brinjal, tomato, capsicum, and tamarind
3 garlic cloves and a small piece of ginger
2 teaspoons of salt
5 cups of water
1/4 cup of oil
1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
2 red chilies and a few curry leaves
2 tablespoons of sambar powder
Instructions
Wash all the vegetables and chop them into small pieces.
Crush the ginger and garlic.
Add the toor daal, all the chopped vegetables, tamarind, salt, and water into a pressure cooker.
Pressure cook on a medium flame for 29 minutes.
In a pan, add oil, mustard seeds, red chilies, and curry leaves.
Once the mustard seeds have finished crackling, add the mixture to the sambar.
Add 2 tablespoons of sambar powder and let it boil for 10 minutes.
